Connecting the Community started as a conversation amongst The Space Force about how to bring the joy and passion we have for local sourcing and intimate hospitality to more people on a regular basis that would let us be as wild and creative as we wanted. The result is an attempt at a dinner series that does more than just bring good food from a farmer to your plate, but an experience that reveals our mutual entanglement in each other, our neighbors, and the very land on which we live. We envision these dinners as conversations - a dialogue about our place in the political economy and the incredibly joyful, beautiful, and bizarre act of eating, of turning the world into us. Of the world becoming us.
This special NYE edition will be indulgent and decadent in the best most holiday-y way. Think courses of squab and scallops and caul fat. We will have a very special pairing available for purchase that features Silver Tree Spirits, which are distilled up the road in Paxton, IL by the Glazik family. All of their ingredients are organically grown on their fifth generation family farm, meaning there is very little besides Mahomet Aquifer tap water you can drink that is more local than their spirits. The dinner does not need the pairing to be special, and all the cocktails will be available a la cart in case you are not feeling the pairing.
Your $30 deposit grants you a seat and a life-changing experience. We use the deposit money to pay for the food ingredients. You will owe another $95 on the day of for your food. The drink pairing is $50 and is sold separately. It can be added to your ticket now by using this link, or at the dinner when you arrive. We will offer a 6pm and a 9pm dinner. The same dinner will be served at both times, but the later time might be more unhinged in a fun way. So pick your vibes.
