Connecting the Community started as a conversation amongst The Space Force about how to bring the joy and passion we have for local sourcing and intimate hospitality to more people on a regular basis that would let us be as wild and creative as we wanted. The result is an attempt at a dinner series that does more than just bring good food from a farmer to your plate, but an experience that reveals our mutual entanglement in each other, our neighbors, and the very land on which we live.
With all the conversations happening regarding members of our unhoused community, and with it being one of the only socially sanctioned times where we can care for humans more than capital, we are offering a special holiday edition of the dinner series that brings our unhoused friends and regular customers together at the same table.
Each ticket costs $50, and it covers your meal AND the meal of one of our unhoused friends. You show up on Sunday, December 21st at 6pm, and we will serve you an awesome three course meal in the eclectic comfort of The Space alongside some of the folks we've come to know through our community meal program. Sometime early this year we made it our policy to feed anyone who asks for food, no questions asked. And then a couple months ago, we started being asked so much that it was impacting our ability to operate. Through the generous support of our regulars and the resourcefulness of The Space Force, we've managed to keep feeding folks when they ask for food.
Along the way we've gotten to know those who ask for food. And we think you should too. They are good people. Since we never get the chance to serve them properly, we are hoping you will help us give them that experience.
Sola Gratia Farm has graciously agreed to donate some produce. We'll use their produce to build out an approachable and exciting meal that features locally grown food. We'll start with soup and salad, the main will be our grilled half chicken (air chilled heritage breed, mind you), and then there will be some sort of dessert. Chocolate will likely be involved. Oh, and we are planning on having complimentary NA drinks available with the meal. You know apple cider will make an appearance because we looove apple cider around here.
